Tips to decide what type of exercise is right for you.
With countless forms of exercise fads being introduced to the public, it is important to sift through and find something that is enjoyable that will keep you consistent. A few tips when deciding which types of exercise to engage:
Weight training is great for the body because it increases muscle mass which makes you stronger and increases the number of calories you burn at rest. Your resistance training sessions do not have to be exhaustive, moving slower through your motions is most beneficial, and targeting 1-2 muscle groups per day is best.
Cardiovascular exercise should not be performed to the point where exhaustion is occurring. Move often, move for fun, and move with a purpose. Increasing your cardiovascular exercise routine does not necessarily mean you should binge eat on more guilty pleasure foods. Marathon running is for a special group of people and should not be the goal of everyone, nor should you feel guilty for not partaking in marathon running.
Stretching a yoga can work to connect your mind and body to be as one. Possessing a greater range of motion also improves posture, can decrease pain, and increase function as your body continues through its life cycle.
Exercise should be enjoyable. If it is too difficult and makes you want to quit then just make it a little easier on yourself. The most important thing to remember is that your body was built and made to move, and the happiness you will receive in return from adding movement into your life will be massive.
